- Oversized low-speed output shaft with a short bearing span reduces gear deflection and misalignment, extending bearing and gear life compared to commercial gearboxes that use smaller shafts and larger bearing spans to handle the same bending loads
- Cast dry well seal — a true cast design rather than a bolt-on — eliminates the lubricant leakage path common on commercial gearboxes; an extra seal over the dry well keeps oil contained even during gearbox movement
- Double and triple reduction options: reduces gear loading, lowers noise, and allows use of standard R&O oils and grease rather than synthetic lubricants required by competitive single-reduction designs
- HT configuration uses helical/spiral bevel gearing; GT uses all-helical gearing — both offer efficient gearing, lowering energy costs
- Case-carburized gearing designed for 20+ year service life
- Bath lubrication supplies gears and bearings at all operating speeds without internal or external lubrication pumps
- Modular design package: right-angle (HT) and parallel-shaft (GT) configurations share common components, providing flexibility across applications and simplifying spare parts planning
- Reverse rotation capability available as an option for process flexibility
- Tapered roller output bearings, grease lubricated, with short bearing span for high capacity under combined bending and thrust loads; upper bearings are tapered/cylindrical roller, oil lubricated, for cool long-life operation
- Drop collar shaft support allows the shaft to drop for seal changes by loosening coupling bolts (shaft drops only 0.5 in.), keeping wetted parts in place and eliminating steady bearing disengagement during service
- Swing-out or spacer spool seal change designs: no need to pull the shaft through the gearbox or remove the gearbox entirely, saving labor and downtime
- Optional throttle bushing and debris well: clean fluid flush eliminates process buildup in the seal area and prevents particle shedding into the tank
- Seal options sourced from major vendors including John Crane, Flowserve, Chesterton, and AES; types include stuffing box, lip seal, cartridge single and double mechanical seals (ChemSeal), and split mechanical seals
- Optional seal shut-off device allows seal service without draining the vessel, eliminating operator exposure to hazardous vapors
- Shafts straightened to less than 0.003 in. total runout per foot of length (0.25 mm per meter) for long seal life and smooth operation
- Single-piece or coupled shaft sections; flanged rigid couplings eliminate the need to thread shafts through the gearbox; optional tapered bore or welded in-tank couplings for long-shaft applications
- Steady bearing options (tripod, bracket, or pad type) available for long shaft support; extended keyways allow impeller position adjustment in the field
- Agitator selection and analysis performed using the manufacturer's proprietary CEDS (Chemineer Expert Design System) software and ChemScale method
- Emergency replacement parts shipped within 24 hours; drive exchange program available for rapid replacement of Chemineer and competitive drives; field service technicians available for installation, troubleshooting, reliability audits, and maintenance training
Chemineer Model 20 HT/GT Agitators
The Chemineer Model 20 HT/GT is a modular, industrial agitator built around a gearbox designed specifically for agitator service rather than adapted from a general-purpose commercial gear drive. It is offered in two configurations: the Model 20 HT (right-angle, helical/spiral bevel gearing) and the Model 20 GT (parallel-shaft, all-helical gearing). Both share an oversized low-speed output shaft with a short bearing span, a cast dry well seal, and bath lubrication — resulting in longer bearing and gear life, lower deflection, and lower noise than commercial gearboxes of equivalent AGMA torque rating. The line covers three case sizes (21, 22, 23) with double and triple reduction options, and is designed to meet AGMA, OSHA, ANSI, IEC, DIN, EU, and ATEX standards.
