Kenics KM Static Mixers

Kenics KM static mixers use a patented helical mixing element to direct flow radially toward the pipe wall and back to the center, with alternating right- and left-hand elements adding further velocity reversal and flow division. The design mixes liquids, gases, or solids continuously within the pipeline with no moving parts, eliminating radial gradients in temperature, velocity, or composition.

Features & Benefits

  • Four element/retention styles available: Fixed (KMS) for general laminar/transitional/turbulent blending or dispersion; Element Assembly (KMA) for insertion into a customer's existing housing; Removable (KMR) where periodic cleaning or inspection is needed; and Edge-Sealed (KME), furnace-brazed to the housing wall for maximum heat transfer and to eliminate dead areas
  • Mixer housings available with plain, threaded, weld-prep, or flanged ends, including raised face slip-on, weld neck, lap joint, ring joint, and Grayloc-type hub flange styles
  • Wide material selection: carbon steel, 304/304L/316/316L stainless, Alloy 20 Cb-3, titanium, Monel 400, Nickel 200, Inconel, Hastelloy C-276/B-2, FRP, PVC, CPVC, PTFE, Kynar, PVDF, tantalum, and zirconium
  • Design pressures to over 10,000 psi; ASME/B31.3 certification and testing available
  • Internal surface finishes down to 8 microinches available on KME for fouling-sensitive service
  • Diameters available to over 8 feet, with full custom fabrication offered

Applications

  • Manufacturer markets the line across chemicals, refining, polymers, food, pulp and paper, and water/wastewater treatment, among other industries
  • Cited duty types: laminar and turbulent blending, liquid/liquid dispersion, gas/liquid dispersion, heating/cooling, residence time control (promoting plug flow), and temperature uniformity
  • Manufacturer's published application list spans agricultural chemicals, chemicals, cosmetics, energy, food, pharmaceuticals, grain processing, minerals processing, OEM, paints & resins, petrochemical & refining, polymers & plastics, pulp & paper, rubber processing, textiles, and water & wastewater treatment

Performance

  • Sizes: 3/16 in. to 120 in.
  • Heat transfer rates 3-10 times greater than open tubes (edge-sealed elements)
  • Geometry limited to round pipe, tubing, or duct
  • Retention types: welded, removable, and edge-sealed
