Tekleen Protects Nozzle Performance At Ramsey Hill Exploration
This case study was first developed by Tekleen in conjunction with Crane Engineering, a Geiger Pump & Equipment Partner Company serving the Midwestern market.
Ramsey Hill Exploration, LLC, a Midwestern producer of specialty frac sand used in oil and gas operations, required reliable filtration at facilities supporting its mining and processing operations. Water used throughout production is recirculated and can contain organic material capable of plugging critical spray-bar nozzles. Without effective filtration, organic debris can obstruct the spray bars, disrupt consistent water distribution, and affect downstream operations. Ramsey Hill Exploration needed a dependable solution that would protect critical components, reduce nozzle maintenance, and support continuous operation. Removing abrasive material from the process water provided an additional protective benefit.
The Challenge
-
Organic Material: Recirculated process water contained organic material that could accumulate within the system.
-
Nozzle Protection: Spray-bar nozzles required protection against plugging and restricted water flow.
-
Multiple Installations: Filtration systems were needed across facilities in Wyoming, North Dakota, and Utah.
-
Fast Delivery: Ramsey Hill Exploration required complete filtration systems within a short project timeline.
-
Responsive Support: Replacement parts needed to be delivered quickly when required
The Solution
Working with Crane Engineering, Tekleen supplied automatic self-cleaning filtration systems designed primarily to remove organic material from the recirculated process water before it reached the spray-bar nozzles. The systems also provided the secondary benefit of removing larger abrasive particles captured at the selected filtration level.
The filters automatically remove accumulated debris while remaining online, providing uninterrupted flow during backwash. This helps maintain consistent water distribution, protect nozzle performance, and reduce the need for manual filter cleaning.
Tekleen also supported Ramsey Hill Exploration’s timeline through rapid delivery of complete filtration systems. When replacement parts were needed, the team arranged next-day, early-morning delivery to help keep the operation moving.
The Results
-
Reliable Nozzle Protection: The systems protect spray-bar nozzles from organic material that can cause plugging.
-
Successful Performance: All installed filter screens are reported to be operating successfully.
-
Reduced Manual Intervention: Automatic selfcleaning supports reliable operation with less frequent manual cleaning.
-
Responsive Service: Tekleen provided fast system delivery and expedited replacement parts when needed.
-
Continued Customer Confidence: Ramsey Hill Exploration is considering an additional filter for a future application.
